Andante by Mozart

The Grade 4 and 5 students are learning about the composer,
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, this term. Not only are we learning about his life and music, but we are also playing one of his compositions on the recorder. This song, Andante, by Mozart is originally composed for the piano and is actually called Piano Sonata No. 11 in A major K.133.
You can watch a YouTube video of a pianist playing it HERE.

We will be having a test on this piece in February. They will be tested on following outcomes:

         Using the correct recorder fingering

         Soft, gentle tone

Reading the notes on the staff while playing

Playing the correct rhythms (especially tam-ti rhythm)

         Left hand on top

We will be spending adequate time practicing the song in class but music will be available to be taken home to practice. I will also be in the Music room to help any student on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday lunch recesses from 12:20-12:50. I have posted a video below of what the song should look and sound like. Students, you will have to look closely as to when my thumb lifts off the back of the recorder for the high D note.

Test dates:

Thursday, February 7 - Room 15
Friday, February 8 - Room 13
Monday, February 11 - Room 14
